Groves Gas Ltd – Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern all engineering services, installations, repairs, maintenance work, quotations, finance introductions and website usage provided by Groves Gas Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”). By engaging our services or using our website, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

If you do not agree with these Terms, you should not use our website or request our services.

Groves Gas (FRN 837469) is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Groves Gas acts as a credit broker and not a lender. We do not receive a fee for introducing customers to finance providers.

2. Scope of Our Services

We provide domestic gas, heating, plumbing and related engineering services including:

  • Boiler installation, servicing and repair
  • Central heating system works
  • Gas appliance installation and maintenance
  • Diagnostic and fault-finding services
  • Emergency call-out where available
  • General plumbing works

All services are subject to availability and may vary by location.

3. Appointments & Access Requirements

3.1 Booking an Appointment

Appointments may be made via telephone or email. Bookings are only confirmed when accepted by us.

3.2 Customer Responsibilities

You must ensure:

  • Safe, unobstructed access to all appliances and required work areas
  • That an adult (16+) is present during the appointment
  • Parking is available where possible
  • Pets and hazards are secured to allow safe working conditions
  • Services or utilities required for the work (e.g., gas, water, electricity) are available

3.3 Failed Access / On-site Cancellation Fee

If we attend an appointment but:

  • No access is provided,
  • The property is vacant,
  • The appliance is inaccessible,
  • The environment is unsafe, or
  • The customer cancels at the door,

A failed access fee will be charged.

No fee is charged for cancellations made before our engineer arrives.

4. Diagnostic Fees

Diagnostic visits are charged at a fixed diagnostic fee, payable regardless of whether:

  • A repair is possible,
  • A repair is declined, or
  • Additional work is required.

This fee covers the engineer’s time and assessment.

If further works or parts are required, the diagnostic fee is not refundable or deductible unless explicitly stated in writing.

5. Quotations & Pricing

5.1 Fixed Price Quotations

All quotations provided by us are fixed price, unless:

  • Hidden faults become evident once work begins
  • Additional work is required to comply with safety or legal standards or at the request of the customer
  • Site conditions differ materially from those described or observed

5.2 Quote Validity

Unless stated otherwise, all written quotations are valid for 14 days.

5.3 Additional Works

If unforeseen issues arise (e.g., unsafe pipework, parts seized, existing installation defects), we will inform you before proceeding. Additional costs will be agreed in writing.

6. Parts, Materials & Availability

6.1 Sourcing Parts

We aim to source parts promptly, but we cannot guarantee availability or delivery times. Supplier delays are outside our control.

6.2 Used or Reconditioned Parts

We do not install used or second-hand parts under any circumstances.

6.3 Ownership of Parts

All parts remain the property of Groves Gas Ltd until payment is received in full.

7. Workmanship Warranty & Manufacturer Guarantees

7.1 Workmanship Guarantee

We provide a 12-month workmanship warranty on services carried out by our engineers, unless otherwise stated.

This warranty does not cover:

  • Pre-existing faults
  • Sludge, scale, contamination or system corrosion
  • Failures caused by lack of servicing
  • Failures caused by customer misuse or third-party interference
  • Wear and tear of consumable components

7.2 Manufacturer Guarantees

Boiler and part warranties are provided by the manufacturer. Terms vary and may require:

  • Annual servicing
  • Use of approved parts
  • Registration within specified timeframes

It is the customer’s responsibility to comply with manufacturer requirements.

8. Customer Responsibilities for Gas Appliances

You are responsible for:

  • Ensuring annual servicing of gas appliances
  • Following safety notices or recommendations provided by our engineers
  • Addressing unsafe or non-compliant installations
  • Maintaining system water quality (for central heating systems)

We reserve the right to refuse work where installations are unsafe or non-compliant.

9. Payment Terms

9.1 Standard Payments

Payment is due:

  • Within 7 days of the works being completed.
  • Prior to ordering for items such as wood-burning stoves.

We accept most payment methods.

9.2 Deposits

For quoted works or installations, we may require a deposit before commencement. Deposits are non-refundable unless otherwise stated.

9.3 Late Payments

If payment is not made within the agreed timeframe, we reserve the right to:

  • Suspend further work
  • Charge interest at the statutory rate
  • Recover reasonable debt recovery costs

10. Finance & FCA Compliance

10.1 Credit Broking

We act solely as a credit broker and not as a lender.
We do not charge fees for introducing customers to finance providers.

10.2 Eligibility

Finance options are subject to:

  • Status
  • Credit checks
  • Completion of application forms
  • Approval by the finance provider

10.3 Cooling-Off Period

A 14-day cooling-off period applies to finance agreements, in accordance with Consumer Credit regulations.

11. Liability & Limitations

11.1 General Liability

We are not liable for:

  • Pre-existing faults
  • Damage caused by poor installation by third parties
  • System contamination (sludge, scale, rust)
  • Failure of aged components
  • Damage caused by customer instructions against our advice
  • Accidental damage not caused by our negligence
  • Loss of profits, revenue, or consequential losses

11.2 Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Groves Gas Ltd against claims arising from:

  • Misuse of appliances
  • Failure to follow safety instructions
  • Third-party interference
  • Hazardous site conditions

11.3 Maximum Liability

Our liability is limited to the total price paid for the services in question and does not exclude liability where prohibited by law.

12. Website Terms of Use

By using our website, you agree that:

  • All content is for general information only
  • We do not guarantee accuracy, completeness or timeliness
  • We may update or remove content without notice
  • You must not misuse the website or attempt unauthorised access
  • External links are provided “as is” and we are not responsible for third-party content
